About the book and the author
For most of his adult life, Allan spent time writing about his life and the Bay of Islands. After his death, his family was left with piles of hand written notes, poetry and typed pages of history. His intention was to write a book about Mount Moriah. Allan died on January 29, 1995 without seeing his work published. As a celebration of his life, his family edited his story for him.
J. Alan Critch was born on March 2, 1928 in Mt. Moriah, to Francis (Frank) and Lucy (Hunt) Critch. He was the grandson of John & Lydia (Cassell) Critch, Harbour Deep, White Bay, and Benjamin & Mary Lavinia (Murley) Hunt of the Bay of Islands. He was a former Mayor of Mount Moriah.
