The German Hologram Stamp Issue
Single Stamp Set
Copyright reserved for all pages by U. Schmitt 1999

On October 14th the German Postal Service (Deutsche Post AG) issued a set of 5 space-related stamps, two of  which have a hologram. One stamp (110 Pfennig - inland basic letter rate) shows a comet collision on Jupiter, and the other  (300 Pfennig – international air mail basic letter rate) shows gamma light radiation as observed from earth. These stamps are shown as single stamps below.

This stamp issue is in support of a German charity organisation (Sozialwerk Wohlfahrtsmarken der Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft der Freien Wohlfahrtpflege e.V.) and commemorates not only the 50 years anniversary of this organisation, but also the 50th stamp issue in support of this organisation. These stamp issues have always had an added fee which went directly to this charity organisation.

With these stamp issues an inland postcard postage rate is 100 Pfennig (+50 Pfennig for charity). The inland basic letter rate, as well as the EU countries basic letter rate, is 110 Pfennig (+50 Pfennig for charity). For world wide airmal letters at a weight of up to 20 g the postage rate is 300 Pfennig (+100 Pfennig for charity). The stamps have been issued in sheets of 10 stamps (next page).
