Beginning in 1973 the German Postal Service has issued annual stamp books containing all the stamps issued in that year. Since 1993 a stamp issue has been chosen annually to be reproduced as a hologram in each year book. None of these holograms are valid for postage. The following holographic reproductions have subsequently appeared.

In 1993: 350th Anniversary of the birth of Issac Newton

In 1994: 1200th Anniversary City of Frankfurt/Main

In 1995: 1st Conference of the Climate Protection Convention in Berlin

In 1996: 450th Anniversary of the Death of Martin Luther

In 1997: 175 Years of Carnival in Cologne

In 1998: 1000th Anniversary of the town Bad Frankenhausen
