In December 1999 Deutsche Post AG, in conjunction with SAT.1 (national TV station), TVmovie (TV magazine), BILD (national newspaper) and BEOS Space Operators held a postcard contest. Each postcard had to contain a millenium message, and the 2000 winning entries were sent into space. The participants could decide in advance, if their postcard would remain in orbit or be returned to earth. This was another opportunity for hologram stamp collectors to get a special cancellation on a special mail item. So far two different postcards (a white card - see below - and yellow back ground card) have been documented. The rocket launch in Alcantara, Brazil had to be postponed once, so consequently there are also two different dates for the special cancellation documented.
